Risk assessment drives safety success

Risk assessment drives safety success

Feel your foot pressing down on the accelerator in the car, you get an adrenalin rush. You’re on a quiet motorway, you feel naughty, excited and scared. The speedometer hits 99, the car’s empty, your heart beats like a percussion drum … go for it says your naughty voice. A bend up ahead … the car is eating up the road; 107 mph on the clock; the radio blares out running boy, running boy … and suddenly your steering shudders, jarring your full body.

You’re losing control, your life passes before you, you grip the steering wheel and steady the car. Phew – what an idiot, you think.

Risk assessment drives safety success and unless you feel it through dynamic assessment, the story will end in a nasty way.

The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a basic knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others. National Course is a two day course for basic site safety and is valid for three years from the date of the course. The Renewal Course is designed as a one day refresher course for those who have already passed the CCNSG National Course. This has to be taken within three months of the Safety passport expiry date. If it is not taken within the specified time then the two day CCNSG National Course will have to be retaken.
