Nebosh Brain Gain
Hands up if you have a mobile phone? Have you ever said Google it? How great are these tools that give us instant answers providing fast track satisfaction – a modern day collective superbrain providing endless knowledge and fascination.
However – it has stolen our capacity to think, interpret and problem solve. Reawaken your interpretation skills and you are in the fast lane towards Nebosh student of the year with distinction as a side order!
How do you do this?
1.Become obsessed with learning outcomes because they are used to develop exam questions. For example, take the following:
- Explain the main control measures for reducing risk from machinery hazard.
If you can do this already you are one step ahead of the examiner – because you will tackle any question created.
2. Revision drill – Take a blank piece of paper and write a learning outcome in the middle of the page. Develop a mind map of your knowledge of the subject. Practise this for all learning outcomes. Identify the Learning Outcomes in the course notes; read over; practise exam questions and repeat the mind map a few days later to see how far you can take it. This is a good drill for all Learning Outcomes asking to explain.
3. When you are in class with the Pivotal tutors, keep your syllabus worksheets with you so that you can identify the learning outcomes during general discussion.
4. Read examiner reports incessantly and practise the questions.
